Update! Analyzing A Chicken Bone

So what happened? The bone that was in the water container smelled awful, retained its color and was still hard. The one in the vinegar container was odorless and the bone was softer. What is so special about vinegar that it can make a hard bone soft? Vinegar is considered a mild acid, but it is strong enough to dissolve away the calcium in the bone. Once the calcium is dissolved, there is nothing to keep the bone hard - all that is left is the soft bone tissue. That is why it is very important to include calcium in your diet.

Ruby and the Booker Boys

This week Jaedan read "Ruby and the Booker Boys". Today he attended a book discussion at our local library. The librarian split them up into three groups and asked them random questions about the book. Jaedan's Group was all boys. I was very impressed with these young men. They all participated and got 13 out of 14 of the questions right.

The Mouse and The Motorcycle

This week Jaedan finished reading "The Mouse and The Motorcycle" by Beverly Cleary. He really enjoyed reading this book. We also found the movie on YouTube which he really enjoyed watching. He said that it was just like the book. Our local library is having a book discussion for this book in December which he will attend.
